Can I list on realestate.com.au and Domain without an agent?
Yes. Those portals only accept listings from registered agency accounts, so private sellers list through a service like SellPrivate. You buy a package, upload your details and photos, and we publish your listing to realestate.com.au, Domain and SellPrivate.com.au. Every package includes all three.
How long does my listing stay up?
Until your property sells or you withdraw it. There are no monthly fees and no time limit on any package.
Do you charge commission?
No. You pay one flat package fee, including GST. When your home sells, the full sale price is yours (less your own conveyancing and any loan costs).
Is SellPrivate a real estate agent?
No. We are an advertising and support service for owners selling their own property. We publish your listing and pass buyer enquiries to you, but we don't negotiate on your behalf, hold deposits or prepare contracts.
Do I need a contract of sale before I advertise?
Every state has rules about the documents a seller must have ready, and in some states they must exist before you advertise or before a buyer signs. Engage a conveyancer or solicitor before your listing goes live; they will prepare the right contract or disclosure statement for your state.
How do buyers contact me?
Buyers use the enquiry form on your listing, and enquiries from the portals go to the email address you give us. Your email address is never shown publicly. You can also choose to show your phone number on the listing.
Can I change my price, photos or inspection times?
Yes, at any time from your private seller dashboard. Changes appear on SellPrivate straight away and are sent to the portals automatically.
How quickly will my listing go live?
We review every listing before it goes live, usually within one business day of payment. The portals generally show a new listing within a few hours of receiving it.
What happens when I sell?
Mark your listing as sold in your dashboard. It is removed from the portals and shown as sold on SellPrivate for a short time. You can choose whether the sale price is displayed.
Can I get a refund?
If we can't approve your listing, we refund your package in full. Once a listing has been published to the portals the portal fees have been paid, so packages are not refundable after that point, except where the Australian Consumer Law says otherwise.
